The Effect of Humanistic Values Expressed by Supervisors As Perceived by Sailors, on Sailor Work Engagement
Dissertation Summary
One may wonder about how work engagement can be affected with an evolving workforce and whether some traditional assumptions about workers (in this case Sailors) may hold true today. In this study, a sample of 594 respondents was used to analyze the relationship between four constructs (Perceived Supervisor Values or PSV, Assessment of Human Agency or AHA, Hopeful Career State or HCS, and Work Engagement or WKE) using Yoon's model (2022, see: https://sites.psu.edu/aclod/research-projects), and between PSV and WKE directly, using structural equation modeling (SEM). The OD values in Yoon (2020) were used to define PSV. The Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2004) was used to define WKE. The results have implications for Organization Development (OD), companies/organizations, researchers, Human Resources, and others.
